Knowledge and experience

Joke Ederveen (1958) has 35 years of work experience in scientific research, pharmaceutical research & development, quality control, quality assurance, validation, and biological safety.

After nine years in the laboratory at the Department of Infectious Diseases & Immunology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Utrecht, she switched in 1990 to the pharmaceutical industry.

At Centocor she was responsible to set up and run the QC-Virology group.

In 1993 she was one of the starters of MicroSafe, a contract laboratory, performing virology and microbiology studies on pharmaceutical (biological) products. Here she worked ten years as study director in mycoplasma-, microbiology and virology.

From 2003 until 2010 she worked as a consultant for Progress Project Management and Engineering. In addition to setting up the training group for this company, she worked during this period for many companies in various projects contributing to production, quality control and validation. As project manager she was responsible for cell bank qualification. She has specific experience with root cause analyses, including positive sterility testing, media fill failures and aberrant results in virus testing.
